Bocchette Centrali - Brenta Dolomites

Bocchette Centrali Via Ferrata – Two Days in the Heart of the Brenta Dolomites
Two days suspended in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites, along what many consider to be the finest via ferrata route in the Dolomites.
The Bocchette Centrali is not just a via ferrata: it is a long journey at high altitude, among exposed ledges, metal ladders, vertical walls and rocky spires rising above the void. A historic and elegant route, never too demanding technically, but incredibly airy and continuous.
To truly enjoy the experience, this itinerary is spread over two days with an initial introductory ferrata, the Sosat, so you can get properly used to the terrain, followed by an overnight stay at Rifugio Alimonta a cozy and excellent alpine hut in a breathtaking setting surrounded by the great walls of the Brenta Dolomites.
Day 1 – SOSAT Ferrata and Rifugio Alimonta
Starting from Passo Grostè, easily reached by cable car from Madonna di Campiglio, you are immediately immersed in the high-altitude Dolomite landscape.
The SOSAT Via Ferrata is one of the most enjoyable and scenic routes in the group: a long traverse across ledges, equipped sections and natural balconies overlooking the walls of Crozzon di Brenta and Cima Tosa. It is an ideal route to become familiar with the environment and prepare for the traverse of the following day.
In the afternoon, you reach Rifugio Alimonta, one of the most iconic and spectacular places in the Dolomites, set among towers and walls in the very heart of the group.
Day 2 – Bocchette Centrali Via Ferrata
From the refuge, you cross the small glacier at the foot of the Vedretta degli Sfulmini and begin the Via delle Bocchette Centrali, the most classic and historic section of the entire Bocchette route.
Here the terrain changes constantly: long horizontal ledges alternate with suspended ladders, short walking sections and spectacular passages that cut across the great towers of central Brenta. The technical difficulty remains moderate, but the setting is grand and the exposure constant.
The scenery along this via ferrata is among the most spectacular in all the Dolomites.
After a break at Rifugio Brentei, you return to Madonna di Campiglio via Vallesinella.
