CRESTA DELL’OM – NAMBRONE VALLEY
A first approach to alpine ridge climbing, in the heart of the Adamello-Presanella range. Above Cornisello, in Val Nambrone, Cresta dell’Om is an ideal route for those who want to gain confidence in alpine terrain without committing to a long or particularly demanding climb.
From the ridge, there are spectacular views of the nearby east face of Presanella and, below, the Cornisello Lakes. Behind you, the entire skyline of the Brenta Dolomites opens up.
The route follows an easy rocky ridge, combining short sections of scrambling and easy climbing in mountaineering boots, short-rope techniques, simple rope manoeuvres and short abseils. A compact introduction to some of the techniques and situations typical of classic mountaineering, all within a single day and with a relatively short approach.
It is a climb designed to learn and gain confidence: moving along a ridge, managing the rope, dealing with exposure and learning how to read the terrain. An ideal experience for those approaching mountaineering and looking to build the skills needed to progress towards more demanding climbs.
